Coming up Thursday on Central Vermont Community Radio: Building community can be simply doing fun stuff with your neighbors. And what should voters get to determine about their local government?
9:00 - 10:00 am
Lovejoy organizes storytelling, trivia nights, and other fun events—including the ten-year run of Extempo stories that we hear almost every week on this show. She'll talk about why she does it, speculate on why people enjoy dissing pop music in her Worst.Song.Ever series, and more. Lovejoy's events bring together people locally for the purpose of enjoying each other's talents and humor—and that warrants celebrating as a community-building exercise.
Plainfield resident Bram Towbin is advancing numerous petitions for changing town government in Plainfield, including expanding the selectboard from 3 to 5 people and making the town clerk an appointed position. The issues are interesting beyond the boundaries of Plainfield; the questions he raises go to the heart of local democracy questions like how much local voters should be able to decide about how their local government works and who staffs it.
10:00 - 10:30 am
Resilience Thoughts, a locally told Extempo story, and more.
