Libby Hillhouse has sent several postings about this open house encouraging readers to think about becoming a GAL. The open house is from 2-4 this Wednesday at the Court House in St. Johnsbury.

I would like to join Libby in encouraging everyone to consider attending the open house and to hear more. I am member of the Legislative Child Protection Panel that was created in response to the recent deaths of two young children in the child welfare system. In the 9 public hearings held by the Panel, the importance of the GAL to the interests of children was heard time and time again. GALs are the voices of these children and their insights and recommendations are an important piece of making the best decisions for children. I hope to see you there.
