Ancient Irish Cuture - The Tuath Dé Danann in Ireland

Past event
Jan 9, 2024, 6:30 to 8 PM

(This Tuesday, at the Cutler in Plainfield). A mythic, invisible race of underground "faerie" people?

That's what the Celts believed about the Tuath Dé Danann, after the Celt invaders brutally conquered Ireland in the late Middle Bronze Age. Little did they know. But they built a solid invention of that "lost" tribe which colors and distorts a much more likely (and real) Irish people... not well known even up to the present.

Our exploration of Ancient Irish Culture continues at the Cutler Memorial Library. In about 1650 BC, the Tuath Dé Danann returned to Ireland after a 4-generation exile in the Baltic. They headed inland, and engaged first with the Fir Bolg and then the Fomors, in the 1st and 2nd Battle of the Pillars (Moyturra).

Tuesday, January 9th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. All are welcome. No charge - food to share appreciated.
