Firearms are the leading cause of death for American children and teens - WE CAN CHANGE THAT.
That is why this year we are forming a Secure Schools Caucus in Vermont. This will be made up of parents, teachers, and invested community members. We will work together to approach school districts and supervisory unions around the state to ask that they send home secure storage and other life-saving information to families in their districts. Will you help us in this mission?
Why secure storage?
Currently, 4.6 million children in the US live in a household with at least one loaded, unlocked gun. Every year, children gain access to these firearms and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else. In addition, 75% of school shooters acquire their firearm from the home of a parent or close relative. This could all be prevented if people were appropriately securing their weapons.
If you want to help make a difference in this work, please reply to this email.
