Visiting Artist Anne Thompson will give an Artist Talk at Vermont Studio Center in the Red Mill Building on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. ET, 2024. Event is free and open to the public.
Anne Thompson is an artist with a hybrid practice that includes writing and curating. Recent solo exhibitions include Trail Signs at The Clark Art Institute (2021-22) and Maritime TXT at STNDRD in Greater St. Louis (2023). She has been awarded fellowships and residencies at Epicenter; the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute; the Women's Studio Workshop; Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).
During 2014-17, Thompson founded and curated the I-70 Sign Show, a nationally acclaimed public art project that positioned the Midwestern interstate as a corridor for cultural and political commentary. Her work as an artist and a curator has been featured in publications and media outlets, including Artforum, The Believer, Good Trouble, NPR, the New York Times and PAD (Public Art Dialogue).
Since 2017, Thompson has been on the visual arts faculty at Bennington College, where she serves as Director and Curator of the Suzanne Lemberg Usdan Gallery.
