Richmond Climate Action Committee (RCAC) and Richmond Free Library (RFL) co-sponsor this event, held at the library. The book we will be discussing is The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet by Jeff Goodell. The library has multiple copies of the book so get a copy, read it, and join the discussion!
It's an engaging book. Near the beginning, it tells a tragic story of a family that went hiking in extreme heat. Through many stories, the book shows how increasing heat worldwide is affecting: life in the ocean and on land, residents of large cities, food production, those who work outside, the spread of pathogens, ice in Antarctica and the Arctic and more. It's a crucial topic for us to understand; since the heat will continue to rise, our lives depend on knowing what to do. There's much vital information in this book - highly recommended!
Join us at the library for the book discussion on Wednesday, February 21 at 4:00 pm!
