New Year's Eve Cello Concert

Welcome the new year with friends and neighbors at The Left Bank in North Bennington with contemplative selections for a cello duo. This coming Sunday, December 31st at 7:00 PM at The Left Bank (5 Bank Street, North Bennington).

This year's cellists are Mark Humburg and Erich Schoen-René.

Mark Humburg, who has long ties to North Bennington, attended LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, winning the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Young Artists Competition. He graduated from the Mannes School of Music, where he studied with Wolfram Koessel and Fred Sherry, and completed his Suzuki teacher training at the School for Strings, under Pamela Devenport. Mark performs regularly in major halls, including Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center, as well as venues overseas in Germany, Holland and China. He has recorded cello music by Allen Shawn, and has been a faculty member at numerous festivals and schools. Mark plays a cello made in 1900 by Richard Henry Knopf.

Cellist Erich Schoen-René attended Bennington and Bard Colleges, and the Manhattan School of Music. His teachers included Maxine Neuman, Luis Garcia-Renart, and David Geber. He also studied Suzuki teaching at the School for Strings. Since settling in New York he has played in a wide range of ensembles, including the Chelsea Symphony, Philharmonic Orchestra of The Americas, Distinguished Concerts International, and numerous chamber and small ensembles. His playing was featured on the 2018 Grammy award winning children's album of the year. He teaches at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School, the Brooklyn Conservatory, and the Brooklyn Music Studio.
