Join the Vermont Poor People's Campaign for a "Longest Night Vigil" in Barre City Hall park this Thursday, December 21st, 4:30-5:30pm (inclement weather location, Rainbow Bridge Community Center 81 N. Main St). This is a gathering to honor, grieve, and celebrate the lives we have lost due to poverty and the streets, and to call for fundamental systemic solutions to poverty and and homelessness. This event is in conjunction with Longest Night Vigils across the country. Join us to share community, stories, hot cider and more.
The national Poor People's Campaign is fashioned in the spirit of the original 1960s PPC founded by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and colleagues. To find out more or to become involved locally https://www.poorpeoplescampaign.org/ or simply reply to this post.
There are 140 million poor and low-wealth people in this country and approximately 110 houseless children in central Vermont.
