Please join us on Saturday, December 16, for the Walloomsac River and Downtown Walk. It will highlight an individual and an organization who are working on behalf of the community. The walk will include a presentation of the sixth Unsung Hero Award, which recognizes individuals who have quietly gone above and beyond on behalf of the community. It will also focus on the Mount Anthony Union High School Choir, as we will be joined by Lynn Sweet, Choir Director, and members of the Choir who will offer us songs of the winter season. Please join us for this celebratory December River Walk.
John Rogers will receive this month's Unsung Hero award. John has made significant contributions to the Bennington community in addressing the needs of local individuals facing Substance Use Disorder and chronic homelessness. He serves as a Turning Point Recovery Coach; launched a Celebrate Recovery meeting along with his wife Anne, and another couple from Mission City Church; and is a board member for Pathways Vermont and Vermont Foundation of Recovery.
December's walk will begin at 10 AM at the Rotary/Bennington Station Park on Depot Street between Main Street and River Street. The Mount Anthony Union High School Choir will sing as we walk along the pathway to School Street and then return along Main Street to conclude at Mission City Church at 416 Main Street for refreshments and several more songs by the Choir.
Walloomsac Walks take place on the third Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. People of all ages are invited to come out and enjoy this ongoing community event. Unsung Hero nominations may be submitted at https://tinyurl.com/bennhero.
