Are you feeling cold spots and drafts coming in and around your windows?
Window Inserts can help immensely!

The Craftsbury, Albany, Greensboro, and the Hardwick Energy Committees will help you stay warmer in your house while also saving money!

What is a window insert? It is a 1" x 2" frame of pine that is precision-fit to the inside of your window with two layers of transparent plastic wrapped around the pine frame and an expandable foam gasket around the outside edge to create a draft seal.

The inserts create two additional layers of insulating air space.

They are reusable and leave no residue on your window trim.

Why should you get window inserts?
- Save on average 8 gallons of heating oil each winter for an average 3' x 4' window.
- Greatly reduces moisture condensation on the windows, even in the bathroom.
- Keeps your house warmer and more comfortable.
- Reduces usage of greenhouse gas-emitting fuel.

The process involves Energy Committee members measuring your windows next spring with an infrared measuring device and then the construction of the frames and plastic will happen in late October at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.

One of the keys to the low cost is the collaboration of the window insert recipients and volunteers building the inserts at the construction workshop.

Sliding scale cost promoted. Pay what you can afford.
