The 38 members of the Middlebury Community Wind Ensemble, conducted by Jerome Shedd, will begin their winter concert with a fine overture by Caesar Giovannini. Our own horn player Jack Clay has written a moving transcription of the Debussy prelude The Sunken Cathedral. Our own oboist Gwen Delgadillo will sing two songs by George Gershwin. We will salute 100 years of the Ilsley Library in Middlebury by playing Ilsley's March, written in 1907 in honor of the couple who left money for the construction of the library building. And we'll play Madlyn's March, by Jerry's cousin Ken Bagley, written in honor of their grandmother. Finally, we will present three movements from Grand Canyon Suite.
