About the Production
Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is one of the most beloved stories of the holiday season. A once decent man, Ebenezer Scrooge, has lost his way and now resides in a chilling darkness. While Scrooge's spirit is not yet dead, he maintains a state of self-imposed loneliness, and a life devoid of any meaningful human contact. While Marley and the three Ghosts are somewhat menacing, they offer Scrooge a chance to reawaken his conscience. Dickens shapes his unique tale so that it becomes a celebration of the human spirit at "this time of the rolling year" when winter turns to spring, and signals the promised rebirth of Scrooge's humanity. According to Dickens it is a time when the greatest gift we can give to on another is the best of ourselves.
The radio show requires six actors to create forty-one characters using only their voices along with a variety of "live" sound effects and original commercials.
