On November 15, 2023, a New York-based private-equity-financed firm, "Vytalize Health," submitted a budget to the Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB) to manage the health care of Medicare beneficiaries at two federally-qualified health centers-- the Mountain Community Health Center in Bristol and Little Rivers in Orange County. Medicare beneficiaries, who signed up for traditional Medicare to guarantee access to all physicians and medical services, would be involuntarily "assigned" to this "ACO REACH model," which inserts a private-equity backed company between seniors and the care they need. Should the GMCB approve this budget, it could green light for-profit corporations' interference in health care closer to home.
Betty Keller, M.D., president of Vermont Physicians for a National Health Program (VT PNHP), and Marvin Malek, M.D., MPH, an internist in Berlin, Vermont and past president of VT PNHP, will lead the discussion and take questions after their presentation. The program will be recorded and available for viewing on NEAT TV website and on Comcast CH108.
