Interested in having a say in the selection of candidates for Burlington's Town Meeting Day election in March 2024? With the first open Mayor's race in 12 years, and several open Council seats, candidates are gearing up early to engage with voters and secure their party's nomination.

Please join us at the Burlington Progressive Nominating Caucus on Monday, December 4 at 6 pm. There will be both an in-person and virtual option to join.

You will need to register in advance for the caucus in order to receive an electronic ballot to vote to endorse a Progressive candidate for Mayor and for City Councilor candidates. Any eligible Burlington voter who supports the Vermont Progressive Party is eligible to participate. Please Note: per Vermont state law, you may only participate in one political party caucus this cycle.

Here are the details:

What: Burlington Progressives Nominating Caucus
When: Monday, December 4, 2023 from 5:45 - 8:00 pm
Where: Old North End Community Center - 20 Allen Street, Burlington, VT 05401
Who: Registered Burlington voters (Note: you do not need to be registered as a Progressive to attend the caucus, or participate in the caucus voting)
Why: Participating in the Nominating Caucus is direct democracy in action. You have the opportunity to vote for candidates, thereby helping to shape Burlington's future.

We will begin with a community potluck meal at 5:45, followed by Mayoral Candidate nominations. We will then break into groups (by Ward) and hear from City Council candidates.

Online ballots will be sent to all registered caucus participants after the caucus. Voting does not take place in person at the caucus. In order to receive an electronic ballot you must register at the link no later than 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3. Register for the caucus at: https://www.progressiveparty.org/caucus.

We will also have options for safe in-person voting for those who do not have internet or email access, need assistance with translation, or are otherwise unable to participate electronically. Call (518) 810-6978 if you or someone you know is in need of a paper or in-person voting option, so we can make a plan.

Looking forward to meeting some South End neighbors there!
