The Craftsbury Public Library and Craftsbury Historical Society invite all students in Grades 5 through 12 to learn more about participation in Vermont History Day at a community workshop and pizza party on Tuesday, December 5th at 5 PM at the Craftsbury Public Library. Vermont History Day will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the UVM Davis Center. The annual competition and celebration of history showcases hundreds of diverse student projects from across the state. The Library and Historical Society are hosting a series of workshops this winter to support interested local students and families. Join us for the first workshop in the series December 5th at 5 PM to learn more!
WHAT IS VERMONT HISTORY DAY?
Vermont History Day is a dynamic education program that encourages students to develop research and critical thinking skills through project-based learning and the study of history. Students share their projects at the annual state contest. Vermont History Day is affiliated with National History Day. The theme for 2024 is "Turning Points in History."
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
You can exercise your voice and choice by selecting a topic related to the annual theme and presenting your research as an exhibit, website, documentary, performance or paper. Working individually or in small groups (up to 5), you can explore a topic related to Vermont history, US history or world history.
SOUNDS FUN, HOW DO I LEARN MORE?
Come to our first community workshop on December 5th at 5 PM at the Craftsbury Public Library to learn the basics! Topics covered will include program basics, timeline, proposed workshop schedule and content, and more! Eat some pizza and ask questions about Vermont History Day!
