Gender, Equity and Inclusion: An Educational Forum
The Peace and Justice Committee of Bethany Church and Kimball Library invite you to a community educational forum exploring gender, equity and inclusion. The forum will focus in particular on transgender youth. The forum will be held downstairs at the Kimball Library with a zoom option on December 5, 2023 at 5:30 PM. The event is free.
Coming to understand each other, in all our wonderful diversity, helps create true community. Welcoming all to contribute regardless of gender enriches our community life. Supporting our youth, in particular, can contribute to their future success in life. The aim of the forum is to foster a more inclusive and welcoming community through education.
Meghan Foster, a nurse practitioner, certified in psychiatry, at Gifford Primary Care, Behavioral Health, will speak about the physical and emotional needs of transgender youth in our community. V Pearson, a graduate of Smith College with a Masters from the Episcopal Divinity School, is the Director of Organizing at Outright Vermont. V will speak about ways we can uplift those most on the edges of our community, and the transformations that are possible when we stand with LGBTQ+Youth.
We know that there are many families, parents and supportive and compassionate adults in this community both in person or on zoom who want to learn more. How can we become a more inclusive community? How can we support queer and transgender youth in our community who are struggling? The community forum will provide an opportunity to ask those questions.
