On Saturday, Sept 27, the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District will be holding a Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the Bradford Town Garage, 9 am - 1 p.m. Fee is $15 per carload for CVSWMD residents.
This collection is DIFFERENT than the paint, batteries, and fluorescent bulb collection CVSWMD held earlier this month. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection is specifically to collect landfill banned items such as: bleach products (including tub, tile & toilet cleaners and laundry soaps), drain openers, oven cleaners, floor wax, solvents, tar, adhesives, pesticides, aerosols, moth balls, gasoline, kerosene, used or contaminated oil, degreasers, polishes, transmission fluid, brake fluid, spray paint and other similar products as these listed here. Look for the words "Poison," "Danger," or "Caution/Warning" on the label. If any of those words are there, it's likely hazardous waste.
This event has a fee of $15.00 per carload, which covers a small fraction of CVSWMDs total cost to run the collection. That fee is the special fee for CVSWMD residents only. Out of district residents may attend, but the fee is $75.00 per carload. (see below to see if your town is in our district).
Businesses and schools must pre-register by calling 802-229-9383 ext. 105.
CVSWMD encourages residents to combine carloads between neighbors, friends and family to cut down on expenses, gas, time and wait time for other people in line. The fee is the same per carload no matter how many households are represented by the car. For more info about hazardous waste collections, go to: http://www.cvswmd.org/what-is-hazardous-waste.html
