The Creative Maladjustment Hip Hop Showcase
McCullough Student Social Space September 13, 2014

Keynoting at the American Psychological Association in 1968, Martin Luther King Jr called for "Creative Maladjustment" to address the oppressive forces of the time. Using Hip Hop to discuss the global social and economic crises, “The Creative Maladjustment Showcase” integrates psychological and sociological theory into musical pieces to create a showcase that pushes the boundary of both art and science. Join Hip Hop performance artists, educators and scholars Debangshu Roychoudhury & Lauren Gardner (featured on CNN, Huffington Post), Kevin Hritz (featured on TEDxYouth Houston) and Middlebury College's own Debanjan Roychoudhury for a FREE interactive lecture and performance on Hip Hop Discourse and its impact on human development from a global perspective. The showcase will have a suggested donation at the door in order to fundraise for Addison Central Teens (ACT) where Debanjan uses rap/poetry to mentor local youth.

Sponsored by Office of the Dean of the College, Sociology Department, Education Studies Department, Wonnacott Commons, Center for Social Entrepreneurship (CSE) and the Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity (CCSRE)
