The Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs program on Security and Global Affairs presents "White Supremacy and Global Accelerationism" by Amy Cooter, Director of Research, Academic Development, and Innovation (RADI) at CTEC, MIIS.
White supremacy in the United States is often imagined as a specifically American phenomenon, as white nationalist groups often use symbols like the Confederate flag - originating in a uniquely American context - to show their commitment to the white nationalist movement. However, notions of whiteness and white political citizenship are also globalized, and connected to international and global processes like immigration and imaginaries of a shared Euro-American heritage. This talk will explore the connection between global accelerationist beliefs and white nationalist militias.
