DHASH (a chapter of the Catamount Trail Association) has received permission from the US Forest Service to build a boardwalk from the parking lot to the base of the steep slopes at the former Dutch Hill Ski Area in Readsboro. Skiers and sledders alike will benefit from this elevated path, which will take them over slushy spots on their way to the steeps.
This is an all-volunteer project. Join us! We'll be building the boardwalk this Sunday, Nov 12, starting at 9:00. If you plan to come, send an email to info@dhash4vt.org so that we can plan ahead. Most of the work needed will be carrying lumber. We'll also need a handful of folks with at least rudimentary carpentry skills.
Bring lunch and water. Note that this will be the first weekend of rifle (deer) season. We'll be working near the road in open terrain using loud tools, so we don't anticipate any problems, but consider wearing something bright orange or safety yellow.
We're planning on building 240' of boardwalk. Can we do in all in one day? Let's find out!
