Colchester, Vermont— 7:30pm Monday, December 4th, 2023 — Broadway is coming back to Colchester!
Today, Broadway Rocks announced the launch of this year's live Holiday show at Colchester High School - The Songs I've Lived, Home for the Holidays. For the second year, the show will feature returning Broadway performers sharing their experiences on Broadway and performing Holiday classics along with songs from past roles they have played in shows including: The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Little Shop of Horrors, and more.
The series was created to give Vermont Broadway fans the chance to experience a variety of Broadway caliber performances here in their home state. Leading the way is Broadway actor Merritt (Dave) Janes (CHS '99) currently a leading character in Back to the Future The Musical at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway.
"In my 15+ years of show business in over 5000 shows, I have performed one night at the Flynn Theater as Sweeney Todd with the National Tour. It was one of the best nights of my life, but it was over far too fast. For the last decade, many have asked me when I'm going to perform in my hometown area again. Well, here we are!" said Merritt David Janes, Producer and Creative Director of Broadway Rocks.
This event is scheduled for Monday December 4th at 7:30 at Colchester High School. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Music and Theatre Departments at Colchester High School.
Janes, a current principal member of the Back to the Future Original Broadway cast, will be accompanied by four of his Broadway friends and colleagues, including Matt Cusack, Andrea Dotto, Andy Peterson, and Elysia Jordan. This show will give viewers the chance to experience an intimate look at the life of Broadway performers as they share stories from their own on and offstage journeys.
"What I love about Broadway is that there is something for everyone. No matter who you are, you can find a show to connect with. Colchester High School is where it all started for me, and we couldn't be more excited to share our love of the music and some great stories from the big stage with our hometown community here in Vermont," said Janes.
