Dear Neighbors,
The City Council will be meeting again on Monday, November 6. You are welcome to attend in-person at City Hall or via Zoom at: https://zoom.us/j/91762378205
Public forum will begin at 7:30pm. You can sign-up to speak at City Hall, online at https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/citycouncil/publicforum, or you can submit your comments in writing to citycouncil@burlingtonvt.gov.
Before public forum, we will have an anticipated executive session to discuss two items. First, the status of a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the University of Vermont regarding the expansion of student housing development opportunities while also ensuring UVM houses more students on-campus. Second, an update on efforts to begin upgrades to Main Street.
After public forum, we will consider our consent agenda. Among the items on our consent agenda are initiatives that will continue progress towards a new shared use path in Calahan Park and approve funds for restoration efforts at the Fletcher Free Library.
Our deliberative agenda includes two main items:
--> GATEWAY BLOCK (MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM) - The Council will consider whether to formally approve the City continuing to review the feasibility of a public-private partnership to redevelop the Gateway Block on Main Street, between South Union and South Winooski, which includes Memorial Auditorium. A presentation on the potential partnership is available here:

--> FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES - The Council will consider approval of funds to support our downtown businesses through the upcoming holiday season, potentially including efforts to improve lighting and stand up a new advertising campaign for downtown Burlington.
If you have any questions or comments on the above items or any other issue, do not hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Ben Traverse
