If you have not voted early, voting on the town solar project (Article 1) and cannabis business regulations (Article 2) is on Tuesday, November 7th at the Town Hall from 7 am to 7 pm.
In short, the solar project will create enough electricity to offset 100% of the electricity use at the new Town Garage, and about 93% of the electricity use at the Town Hall, Library, Senior Center and Fire & Rescue Station. With an anticipated 30% rebate via the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and a low interest loan from the Vermont Bond Bank, the break-even point is at approximately 10.5 years, and the panels are estimated to last about 30 years.
The cannabis business regulations are proposed amendments to the Land Use Regulations which will allow the town to regulate cannabis businesses (with the exception of outdoor cultivation, which the state has classified as an agricultural use).
