St. Francis Concert Fundraiser Sunday, November 19th
2:00 p.m., $10.00 donation, St. Francis Church
The St Francis Parish is organizing a concert to raise funds for assist with our winter fuel bills. We are very excited to announce the following Singing Group for the event:
"One Voice" is a small church choir from Lebanon, New Hampshire. It was Fr William Kaliyadan's idea, when he was parish priest at Sacred Heart, Lebanon, from 2004-2015, to form a choir of parishioners of all nationalities, hence our name. We comprise singers from the USA, the Philippines, India, and New Zealand. Some of our singers have also sung with the Philippine Heart Center Nursing Chorale and the Handel Society of Dartmouth College, and others are current members of the Voxstars, North Country Chordsmen, Vtones, Bated Breath, and Marksmen. Many members of the group can also be found playing musical instruments in orchestra pits, big bands, and community bands throughout the Upper Valley, and beyond. When we are not making music together we are also nurses, educators, administrative professionals, computer programmers, mechanical engineers, software developers, laboratory specialists, and scientists. We were recently asked to sing the final masses at La Salette Shrine in Enfield, NH. We have a genuine love and joy of singing deeply religious pieces. In essence we pray twice through our singing. The camaraderie established is palpable with all of us and it is embodied in the sound we create. We believe that church music should be inclusive and, as appropriate, be joyful.
Jacqueline Smith, an Associate of Trinity College, London (piano), grew up accompanying and singing in school and church choirs in New Zealand. She has also sung in a choir in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the Handel Society of Dartmouth College, and in the Concertato Singers. She has been the enthusiastic director of One Voice since its inception
