Travelogue: Wild Sri Lanka
Wednesday, November 8--1:30 - 2:30. Richmond Free Library
Sri Lank is often called the Pearl of the Indian Ocean and the Teardrop of India. Join us on Wednesday, November 8 at 1:30 at the Richmond Free Library for a trip to a country which for centuries has attracted visitors for its tea, spices, warm and welcoming people, Buddhist culture, and natural beauty. While most tourists come for the beaches and the curry, the tropical and tiny island is home to a remarkable array of wildlife—including the leopard, the apex predator, the elusive sloth bear, mugger crocodiles, the Sri Lankan elephant, monkeys, 227 species of birds, and more—many found nowhere else and protected in 26 national parks. Join us for this trip through five national parks in Sri Lanka, as well as visits to Buddhist temples and the towering ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya. Sponsored by the Community Senior Center and open to all.
