Fracked Gas Pipeline

Special thanks to Rebecca Foster for continuing to ring the bell about the proposed fracked gas pipeline which would come up through Addison and Chittenden County and - by the way - right along Rotax Road.

There's going to be a Public Service Board hearing on September 10 in Middlebury at 7 PM at the Middlebury Middle School gym. For folks who can't attend the hearing that evening, there is an opportunity to submit written testimony here: http://bit.ly/17Wd2Rj.

Also, the PSB is organizing a site visit on Sept. 10 beginning at 12:30 in Middlebury. It will involve a bus, and go north from Middlebury, make a loop and end back in Middlebury by at 5 pm. Here's a link to map showing the route. http://binged.it/128hUm6.

For those of you living in East Charlotte, this is deeply disconcerting proposition. Also remember that despite the current national natural gas boom, Vermont banned fracking because of how environmentally and climatically destructive it is. Despite industry claims, natural gas is not a clean-burning fuel, and accepting the specious argument that it's a better option than coal or oil because it has fewer emissions is kind of like someone saying, "I'm not going to lop your head off with an axe, because I know you don't want to die that fast. So I'll do you a favor and use a hacksaw instead."
