Even if we finally have had a couple of frosts and a bit of snow in the air, you can still warm up at the contra dance! We'll start with the usual instruction/refresher lesson. Liz Nelson, our caller for the evening, will go over some of the basics there. If you are new to contra dancing, come by 7:30 so you can clean your shoes off or change them, before the lesson starts about 7:40. Contra dancing for everyone will happen from 8:00 to 11:00. The excellent live music for this dance will be provided by Cojiro, a "stompy, fun and funky" band from the Boston area, featuring Jess Newman on fiddle, and Mark Price on guitar and a variety of mandolins. All dances will be taught by the caller, and there are lots of friendly folks to dance with.
Come to dance, as usual, at the Capital City Grange Hall, 6612 VT-12, Berlin VT 05602, just one mile south of Montpelier.
If you've been to our wonderful dance series before, consider this a reminder. If you've always wanted to check out contra dancing, this will be a great time to give it a try. We encourage mask-wearing by anyone who wants to (and we'll provide free masks), but we longer require them. If you don't feel well, please stay away and join us at our next dance.
Contra dance admission prices: $12 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income folks, or be a "dance supporter" and give us $20, to help us pay the wonderful callers, musicians and sound techs for the great work they do. Choose what price matches your resources. We're happy to have everyone who comes, whatever you pay!
