Last year was the 50th anniversary of the Plainfield Co-op, one of the first co-ops in our region (only the Adamant Co-op is older!), and the original spawning ground for the Hunger Mt. Co-op in Montpelier. We're gathering to celebrate on Sat., 11/11 at the co-op's upstairs Community Center, 153 Main St. in Plainfield's lower village, and everyone is invited!
The program will include a potluck dinner, music, food, performances, poetry and a special celebration of the life of recently deceased activist/artist Elinor "Randy" Randall. For many years, Randy embodied the spirit of the co-op with her deep support for all forms of socially engaged non-commodified arts, as well as the co-op itself.
There will also be an exhibit of work by many long-time contributors to the Plainfield Community Center gallery, including Peter Schumann, Daniel Marcus, Janice Walrafen, Helen Rabin, Jerome Lipani, Nicholas Hecht, Sam Kerson and many others. Hope to see everyone!
