Community Supper Needs More Helpers

The Community Supper held at the American Legion needs your help. For the past five years area churches and other various groups, mostly notably the Emergency Department at Mt. Ascutney Hospital, have been offering a weekly free meal for anyone September through June. Last year we had less help and were forced to move to a twice-monthly supper. However, the unpredictably of the schedule caused confusion and attendance dropped. In January Pat Warren, with a sponsor, filled in all of the open weeks and once again we began having a weekly meal and to see a larger turnout. Pat has moved away but her commitment to the weekly supper inspired us all. We’d like to continue to offer a weekly meal this year, but we need your help to do so. We have three churches and the Mt. Ascutney Emergency Department participating but we can’t manage to cover every week. Is there a boys or girls scouting troop that could help? A book club who wants to be more active in our community? Maybe your neighborhood could host a night once a quarter? How about a group of friends who want to show your kids the joy of service? We’d be happy to have you put on just one meal in the coming year. We’re having a planning meeting at Old South Church on Thursday, September 18th, at 6:00 pm. We’ve got the whole procedure outlined and we’d be delighted to have someone from your group shadow at a supper if you’d like. Please consider helping with this important work, people in Windsor are hungry; for food and for fellowship, you can help with both. Question? Contact Mandy Lape-Freeberg, pastor of Old South Church, Church #674-5087, cell: 603-748-1431. Thanks for considering.
