The Richmond Police Department, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration and The Hinesburg Police Department will be hosting a medication take back. If you have any unneeded or expired medications, you are encouraged to drop them off for safe disposal. You can also bring your pet's medications.
The event will be Saturday, October 28th, our officers will be outside the Richmond Town Center from 10 am to 2 pm, located at 203 Bridge Street in Richmond. We will also be outside the Hinesburg Police Department with a collection site during this time.
More than half of people who misuse prescription medication get it from a friend or relative, often straight out of the medicine cabinet.
Medications that are not properly stored in your home can be a risk to kids and pets who might accidentally ingest them. And flushing medications or tossing them in the trash is a danger to our waterways and wildlife. We are proud of Richmond's commitment to protecting our children, pets, and our environment. Join us on October 28th and Spread the Word. Let's continue making strides in responsible medication disposal!
If you have medication that needs to be disposed of now, simply drop off your prescription or non-prescription drugs at the red collection box outside the Richmond Police Department located on the 2nd floor of the town center building accessible 8am-5pm Monday - Friday. We also have a collection box available 24/7 in the lobby of The Hinesburg Police Department, 10322 VT RT 116 in Hinesburg.
