at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction, VT
Essex Junction, VT. On Sunday, September 21st at 3:00 p.m. the Joe Levesque Big Band will perform a public concert at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction, 39 Main Street, Essex Junction, VT. There is no admission fee charged for the concert, but a free will offering will be accepted at the door to benefit the church’s music program.
Joe’s Big Band is a 17-piece ensemble that has performed for many years throughout northwestern Vermont, at weddings, dances, schools, and community events. The band members are a combination of accomplished local musicians who share a passion for performing the diverse styles of big band music from the Swing Era to the present. Their repertoire spans from swing and jazz standards made famous by artists like Count Basie, Glenn Miller, and Duke Ellington, to the music of Earth, Wind and Fire, James Brown, Santana, and other contemporary artists.
Joe Levesque, the band’s founder, was a gifted musician from Essex Center, Vermont who played in small groups and big bands all his life. He gave many musicians the opportunity to play and enjoy the music he grew up performing. Joe passed away in 2004, but the band continues on in his memory.
If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the church office at 802-878-5745, ext. 100 or by email at welcome@fccej.org. We hope you will join us on Sunday, September 21st. Like Joe’s Big Band on Facebook and/or visit their website: www.joelevesquebigband.com.
