The Congregational Church of Middlebury is holding its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year's 99th Bazaar features a wide variety of items for sale on the building's two levels. Three special items are featured this year: Shoppers will be able to choose from two dozen framed and signed photographs from the collection of renowned National Geographic photographer James P. Blair. Also, quilt raffle tickets will be on sale for a chance to win a beautiful new, handcrafted queen size quilt in the Starlight Waltz pattern ($3.00 each, or 2 for $5, or 5 for $10.00). And finally with this year's renewed popularity of Barbie, fans will discover a large selection of highly collectible Barbie dolls and Barbie accessories, donated by a longtime church member and collector.
Shoppers will find many other popular items that the Bazaar is well known for! Upstairs are handmade crafts, fashion and fine jewelry, scarves, silk neckties, wall art, and a room full of gently used books, organized for easy browsing. Also upstairs, purchase your quilt raffle tickets and bid on a wide variety of theme baskets that make wonderful gifts for a friend or for yourself! (The drawing will be held on Sunday morning Nov 5. The lucky winner does not need to be present to win.) On the lower level in Fellowship Hall is a room with games, puzzles and toys (and Barbie dolls!) for both children and adults. This year's Garden Table will have a wide variety of indoor plants and garden related items. Homemade foods will be available and safely packaged for take-out. Food tables will be filled with jams and jellies, breads, as well as specialty and traditional pies. And, just in time for the chilly weather, a variety of delicious, homemade soups can be purchased by the pint or quart. Once again, there will be a limited collection of small home furnishings. Entrances will be open at 30 North Pleasant Street and also under the Seymour Street portico. All proceeds from the Bazaar benefit the church's programs. Face masks are optional inside the building.
