I offer a note from my friend Stephen Rose about a performance we are giving this upcoming Saturday evening:
"On September 29 & 30 and October 1, I participated in the fourth World Culture Festival presented by the Art of Living Foundation on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Over three days a million people came to the mall for an international music, dance, food, and meditation event with more than 17,000 performers. We gathered from at least 150 countries to celebrate the diversity of our one global family in peace and fun. After a series of almost absurdly improbable events over one month, on Saturday night I performed with a small group of twelve Whirling Dervishes turning to an original composition by the renowned Afghan musician Humayun Khan.
As a way to bring some of that amazing goodwill and positive energy home from DC, on Saturday October 28 at 6:30 pm, I will reprise that performance in the Charlotte Congregational Church. We will have poetry and music and meditation, the Afghan musical piece, and time for questions. There will be baskets for a free will donation for the Congregational Church."
