Calvin Pier Tavern & Robert Frost Recreation Area

Past event
Oct 31, 2023, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

On Tuesday, October 31st, starting at 10:30 a.m., there will be a gathering to commemorate the site of Calvin Pier's tavern, the location of Ripton's first town meeting in March 1828 which accomplished the legal requirements for Ripton to become an organized town. This October event will also celebrate the handicapped-accessible trail improvements made by the U.S. Forest Service within Robert Frost Recreation Area. Those interested in this occasion are invited to meet at the Pier tavern site which is marked by a sign on the north side of Route 125, 2.2 miles southeast of Ripton Country Store. The Tavern site is assessable via the U.S. Forest Service connector trail and is situated about halfway between Robert Frost Interpretive Trail and Robert Frost Wayside. RF Interpretive Trail and RF Wayside both have parking but because it is limited it is advisable to carpool when possible.
