The Sunderland Energy Committee is sponsoring a forum to explore how best to transition Vermont's energy needs from largely fossil fuel-based sources to one based primarily around renewable energy sources. It will be held at the Manchester Community Library, 138 Cemetery Avenue, from 7pm to 9pm, on Thursday, Oct. 26th.
A distinguished group of panelists, Neale Lunderville, the president and CEO of Vermont Gas Systems, Julie Moore, the Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, Jared Duval, the executive director of the Vermont Energy Action Network, and State Representative Laura Sibilia (I-Windham-2), will discuss the issues involved in making the transition happen and how best to overcome obstacles during the transition.
One of the primary goals of the forum is to engage different sides of the energy and climate debate and hear from all points of view in a respectful way. A transition to an energy system based primarily on renewable sources of energy will be most successful when there are winners and winners, not winners and losers.
A moderated panel discussion will kick off the forum, followed by a question-and-answer segment from the audience. All those interested in energy and climate transition questions are encouraged to attend.
