On Wednesday, Oct 25th at 5 pm, Chuck Collins and Betsy Taylor, long-time economic justice and environmental campaigners, will speak about "Bold Action on a Burning Planet" at Dana Auditorium at Middlebury College. They will talk about work to advance climate solutions, build community resilience, and intensify tactics to halt expansion of the fossil fuel industry in the face of disruptive climate change. The talk will draw heavily on Altar to An Erupting Sun, Collins' new work of eco-future fiction depicting one Vermont community's efforts to face a climate-disrupted future. September 2023 was Earth's most extreme month for heat ever recorded. 2024 is expected to be worse. The magnitude and rate of warming over the last 150 years far surpasses the magnitude and rate of changes over the last 24,000 years. This talk and discussion will focus on how we live and act in these unprecedented times.
