Please join us in a screening and artist talkback of 'Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai' at the Westminster West Congregational Church, 44 Church Street, Westminster West, on Sunday, October 22 at 6:30 PM. Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai, a film by Lisa Merton and Alan Dater, tells the inspiring story of 2004 Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai whose simple act of planting trees grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, protect human rights, and defend democracy. Set in the context of Kenya's politically and environmentally tumultuous '80's and '90s, it captures a worldview in which nothing is impossible and gives a loving, and intimate portrait of Wangari Maathai.
There will be a talkback with the movie makers, Lisa and Alan, following the screening.
