Honoring Bennington Community Cafe and Unsung Heroes

Past event
Oct 21, 2023, 10 AM to 12 PM

Please join us next Saturday, Oct 21 when the Walloomsac River and Downtown Walk will highlight two individuals and an organization who are working on behalf of the community.

The walk will include a presentation of the fourth Unsung Hero Award, which recognizes individuals who have quietly gone above and beyond on behalf of the community. Pam and John Santarcangelo will receive this month's award. They have made significant contributions to the Bennington community over the years including fundraising and service on the board of Bennington Project Independence, the creation of the Alliance Fair Trade store featuring artisan goods from less economically developed countries and the revitalization of the Foster Child Clothes Closet now at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church.

This month's walk will end with autumn-inspired refreshments at the Community Café at GBCS. The weekly Saturday Community Café provides a welcoming space for all members of the community to share a meal, listen to music and have good conversation. The Café will also hold its regular hours on Saturday from 1:30 -3:30 pm.

October's walk will begin at 10 AM at the Rotary/Bennington Station Park on Depot Street between Main Street and River Street. The walk will follow the Walloomsac Pathway to School Street and then return on the pathway to conclude at the Community Café on Depot Street.

Walloomsac Walks take place on the third Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. The walks are pet-friendly, and people of all ages are invited to come out and enjoy this ongoing community event. In the case of inclement weather, cancellation notices will be placed on the Front Porch Forum and the Bennington Blotter.
