The second gathering of the Brattleboro Area Interfaith Youth Group will take place on Sunday, Oct 15 at the Guilford Community Church for games, service project planning, and a Nachos meal!
The youth at last month's launch hailed from BUHS, BAMS, Compass School, Marlboro School and the Middle and High Schools in Keene. Few were connected to a church and affiliation is not expected.
The group's focus is primarily social justice, peer support, leadership and community service. Organizers hope that past attendees will return with a friend and those who couldn't attend will make it this time. They expect the group will grow in the coming months as word spreads and the first service trip is identified.
Future meetings are set for the second Sunday of the month, from 5-7 pm and meeting locations will rotate among the various participating faith centers. There will be activities offered on other dates as opportunities avail themselves. Parents are asked to contribute $5 per activity to cover some of the expenses (if this is a hardship, let organizers know).
