Mental Health Awareness Service

The World Health Organization designates October 10 as World Mental Health Day and encourages this date as an opportunity for people and communities to unite behind the theme 'Mental health is a universal human right" to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone's mental health as a universal human right.

In support of this worldwide call to action, on Sunday, October 15, the Warren United Church is going to have a service devoted to mental health and substance abuse awareness. There will be sharing of personal stories as well as a presentation of resources and support.

Mental and emotional turmoil are everywhere in today's world. It has always been this way, but with all that's been happening in the last few years it has become a crisis. Unlike physical health, for which people have no problem seeking help, it is still very hard for those in need to reach out for help with mental health problems because of stigma and shame. Yet mental illness and substance abuse touch almost every family. The good news is that resources and help are available.

The community is encouraged to join the Warren United Church for this very special event. The service is at 10:00 am on Sunday, October 15 at 339 Main Street in Warren. For more information, visit www.warrenunitedchurch.org or contact warrenunitedchurch@gmail.com or 802-496-2713.
