Hello neighbors! Mt. Ascutney State Park is celebrating the annular eclipse on Saturday, October 14 from 11:30 to 2:30 pm.
Join us at the summit parking area to learn about and witness the partial solar eclipse! Interpretive program begins at 11:30 am. The annular eclipse begins at 12:14 pm and ends at 2:29 pm, with a maximum obscuration of the sun (around 15%) at 1:22 pm. To safely view an annular eclipse, you will need solar eclipse glasses (we will have a limited number of these at the park). Never look directly at the sun without them. You will also have the opportunity to build a pinhole camera (with simple materials provided) to project an image of the sun for an alternative safe viewing experience.
What to bring: solar eclipse glasses (if you already have them). Water, and a picnic lunch (please carry out all trash, as there are no receptacles at the summit).
