Bernard Nobel will give a presentation on moving the New Haven Fire Station. He is an author of three books on Vermont Civil War soldiers from Addison County towns (Someone's Darling Slumbers Here: Stories Of Vermont's Civil War Soldiers) as well as an avocational historian of local history, specializing in Civil War and American Revolutionary War. For the past year and a half, he has been deeply involved in documenting the move of the historic New Haven train depot from its original location at the Junction to its new home in the center of New Haven village. He has taken well over 2,000 photos of how that remarkable move was done, from the very beginning of the process to the mounting of the building onto its new foundation.
His presentation includes a 45 minute slideshow detailing how the 155 year old brick structure was prepared for the 1.6 mile journey.
