Lamoille Valley OLLI will present DR. Elizabeth Sherman, Professor of Biology, Emerita, Bennington College exploring how it is that the US, arguably the most science and technology centered country in the world, routinely lags behind many other countries in the acceptance and understanding of science. Various polls suggest that a substantial percentage of Americans think that the seriousness of human-induced climate change is exaggerated, that vaccines cause autism, that humans did not evolve from earlier forms of life and other beliefs exist in spite of evidence from scientist.
