Martin Bridge Update
Marshfield has delayed work on the cleanup in order to get clearances and develop contracts for repair of bridges and roads used everyday by residents. We now have have an understanding of what FEMA requires for the project and shortly should have an understanding of state floodplain requirements for depositing the woody debris and silt on the bridge, trails, lawns and parking lot when they are removed.
We can get started on the clean up. On Sunday the 15th from 1 to 5 PM we will begin. Please come and help.
Here are some of the items we will work on:
1) Clean and sweep the bridge floor and walls of silt.
2) Reset the entry sign
3) Collect lumber, metal, plastic etc deposited along the river bank (both sides) from upstream damage
4) Clear and stack debris caught on trees near the bridge Remove remains of split rail fence
5) Potentially begin moving woody debris if state has agreed with a deposit area.
Volunteers need to bring square and round shovels, heavy duty brooms, gloves. We will need one more chain saw.
The items we can definitely work on will take less than the 4 hours set aside if we have 8 or 10 people. Please consider helping restore our beautiful bridge and park. Please email if you will help so I can organize the work
