The Chittenden Historical Society presents:
The History and Legacy of Vermont CCC camps. The 90th Anniversary
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), was the make-work program under FDR's "New Deal" to relieve poverty and unemployment. Participants built roads, trails, camps, dams, State Parks, and fire towers among other work to support the country's infrastructure. Over 40,000 individuals worked here in Vermont - some on local projects. Author and historian Martin Podskoch has done extensive research on the CCC and will speak October 16th @ 7pm. This is a free program, open to the public.
