Mizuka Ohnishi with support from Berta Frank & Yumi Tanabe performs a Japanese Koto concert starting at 7pm on Tuesday October 17, 2023 at the Elley-Long Music Center in Colchester.
Ms. Ohnishi is a traditional Japanese musician, composer, recording/touring artist, and educator. She plays the Shamisen (Japanese traditional guitar) and the Koto (Japanese traditional harp). Ohnishi teaches and performs in Japan as well as China, Australia, France, and the US. She is a composer using traditional Japanese music, directs classical performing artists, a lecturer at several colleges and universities, and has made several CDs.
Yumi Tanabe is traveling from Japan to support Ms. Ohnishi and also plays Koto. Berta Frank plays flute and is a Vermont educator and performer.
Admission is free. Donations that help make this and similar events possible will be welcomed the night of the concert (checks or cash only).
