"Why Don't Americans 'Get' Science? is the topic of the Lamoille Valley Osher Lifelong Learning event on Wednesday, October 11 at 1:00 pm. Doors open at 12:30 pm.
Dr. Elizabeth Sherman, Professor Emerita of Biology at Bennington College, will explore why Americans have difficulty applying scientific findings to their real lives and interactions with others. Polls show that a substantial percentage of Americans think that the seriousness of human-induced climate change is exaggerated or that genetically modified foods are unsafe to ingest, to name only two issues about which the science is clear.
