An Intimate Night of Jazz in the Heart of Stowe

The Brass Lantern Inn and Firefly Productions bring you 'Jazz at the Lantern' a genuine, small jazz club style experience, once a month, in Stowe, Vermont. Our October offering is the Chris Peterman Quartet. Reserve a table, order charcuterie or bruschetta and a bottle of wine to enjoy the musicians up close, mingle in the Inn's lounges with comfy couches and a fireplace, or relax on the beautiful back deck, and lawns.

About the Performers

The Chris Peterman Quartet brings together four of Vermont's finest and most sought-after musicians, playing a wide variety of contemporary and classic jazz in a uniquely melodic style, and focused on the dialog and interplay that are the heart of jazz. Their repertoire includes compositions by the band as well as reimagining's of the music of Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Chick Corea, and Don Grolnick, among others.

On Saxophone is Chris Peterman, a gifted musician and Connecticut native, Chris plays both tenor and soprano saxophones. Peterman graduated from the Berklee College of Music, and has played on the national scene with artists such as The Neville Brothers, Phish, Joe Henderson, John Scofield and Dave Brubec. Chris is truly one of the finest sax players in Vermont.

Michael Hartigan on keys is a composer, arranger, orchestrator, and producer, living in Burlington, Vermont. Growing up in Potsdam, New York, Michael began music lessons at the age of six, and was performing regularly with a variety of local musicians by age twelve. He studied piano performance and music theory at the Crane School of Music, and composing and arranging at Berklee College of Music. Michael is highly sought after and active in Vermont's music communities. While Jazz is a main focus of his playing, he is equally comfortable in the worlds of Pop/Rock, Blues, Latin, Country, Folk, and Classical music, and he is occasionally seen performing on violin, accordion, electric bass, or as a vocalist, in addition to his work as a pianist.

John Rivers, acoustic and electric bass John Rivers is a versatile bass player, who is always evolving as a teacher and performer. John records and performs regionally with many diverse ensembles. He graduated from the University of Miami Jazz program in 1991, where he studied under the tutelage of Don Coffman and Vince Maggio. He has had the good fortune to perform with talented musicians such as: Karl Berger, Othello Molineux, Joe Davidian, Rachel Bissex, Phillip Hamilton, Arturo Sandoval, Jim Mcneely, Wess Anderson, Amina Myers among others. He has traveled and performed in many parts of the globe. John feels that it is a great privilege to be a professional musician. He enjoys sharing this knowledge and experience with his students.

On drums, Geza Carr of Burlington who has been playing drums since the age of nine. Geza studied with Keith Gibson and has been playing in jazz, funk and latin bands all over the Central Vermont region for decades. He's toured and played with Pete Robbins, Josh Roseman, Jen Hartswick Band, Mario Pavone, Ani DiFranco, Todd Sickafoose, Thao Nguyen, Dave Liebman, Martin Carthy, Sean Hayes, and James Harvey to name a few.
