October 3-7! Get ready for an exhilarating adventure through the world of banned literature! In celebration of Banned Books Week, a unique and thrilling scavenger hunt is set to take place from Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 42 p.m. in the heart of Hardwick Village.
Hosted by the students of Hazen Union School's Banned Books Class, this scavenger hunt promises a memorable literary journey. Books that have been banned from American schools and libraries will be strategically placed in plain sight throughout various shops in Hardwick Village. Each of these clandestine books will contain a hidden clue inside its front cover, guiding participants to the next shop and the next intriguing literary treasure.
Every clue will also reveal a word that must be written down. As participants progress through the hunt, they will assemble these words in order, forming a unique phrase that must be presented at the final shop to claim their prize. Prizes will be rewarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and for all the dedicated runners-up, there will be a small token of appreciation to commemorate your participation.
Banned Books Week is an annual awareness campaign promoted by the Ameran Library Association that celebrates intellectual freedom and brings awareness to issues of censorship through the celebration of banned and challenged books.
P.S. Here is your first clue:
Hop into the front seat to begin your quest,
Seeking truth and justice in a time of unrest.
Look into a songbird's world through a young Scout's eyes—
Now you're one step closer to claiming the prize.
