SKATE DREAMS

October 4th - One day only!
Two screenings at 3pm & 7pm
$15 suggested donation (all proceeds go to the Middlebury Skatepark Project)
Skate Dreams is the first feature documentary about the rise of women's skateboarding. It profiles a diverse group of women whose pursuit of self-expression and freedom has helped create an international movement. The story spans the trailblazing pioneers of the 1980s and the next generation of Olympic contenders as they defy industry gatekeepers and fight for professional equality.
The film is directed by Jessica Edwards, the Peabody award winning director of Mavis! about musician and civil rights figure Mavis Staples. Skate Dreams premiered at SXSW and this screening is the Vermont Premiere presented in glorious Digital Cinema Projection. Thanks to generous support from Ben at the Middlebury Marquis and Stacey and Mary from the Stone Mill, your $15 goes directly toward the design and construction of a contemporary concrete skatepark and you get to see an incredibly inspiring movie too!
Also, join us for a meetup at the Middlebury Mini ramp before each of the screenings, the first is at 1:00pm (following an early release for ACSD schools!) and the second starts at 4:00pm. We will have skateboards and pads if you would like to try skateboarding. All wheels and abilities welcome! Beginners encouraged! Hosted by local women skaters.
